1. General Terms

  • By registering to bid, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and all auction rules.

  • The Auction House ("we," "us," or "our") reserves the right to refuse entry, revoke bidding privileges, or reject any bid without explanation.

2. Registration & Bidding

  • Bidders must register with valid ID and payment details before participating and receiving their bidding number. A bidding number is only valid for the day of the sale and does not carry forward to other sales.

  • Online bidders must ensure stable internet access; we are not responsible for technical failures.

  • Live auction bidders must clearly signal bids to the auctioneer.

  • All bids are final and legally binding.

  • If successful, the bidder must guarantee that the Auctioneer sees their number. If there are any doubts about the price or buyer, please bring them to the Auctioneer's notice immediately.

3. Condition reports.

  • Buyers who are unable to attend in-person viewings can receive written condition reports upon request.

4. Buyer’s Premium & Fees

  • The purchaser must pay Collector Auctions a 15% buyer’s premium plus GST on the hammer price, therefore adding 17.25% to the hammer price.

5. Payment & Collection

  • Payment is due 48 hours after the auction closes.

  • New Zealand buyers must pay in full within 48 hours after the auction. We accept Online Banking, EFTPOS, PayPal, Visa, and MasterCard (proof of ID is required) with a 2.2% surcharge. The purchaser is responsible for paying any bank and PayPal fees. Overseas customers must pay into our bank account via International Funds Transfer; the buyer must incur all bank fees associated with the payment.

  • All items must be paid in full before collection.

6. Item Descriptions & Condition

  • All items are sold "as is"—inspect before bidding.

  • Descriptions are for guidance only; no warranties are given.

  • Authenticity guarantees (if any) apply only as stated in the catalogue.

7. Disputes & Refunds

  • The auctioneer’s decision on bids is final.

  • Refunds are only given if an item is proven materially misdescribed.

8. Online Auction Technical Issues

  • We are not liable for website outages, bid errors, or delays.

  • We reserve the right to cancel/reschedule auctions due to technical problems.

9. Absentee Bids

Collector Auctions will conduct bids and notify prospective buyers as specified.
Buyers who are unable to attend the sale may leave their bid with our staff after viewing or place their bid in advance by phone or email. These bids are placed at the buyer's own risk.

Bids must be placed at least one hour before the sale begins.

When making absentee bids, buyers must provide:

  • Their full name

  • Address

  • Email address

  • Contact telephone numbers

  • The number of the lot they wish to buy

  • Their maximum bid amount – excluding commission which will be added to the invoice afterwards.

For absentee buyers we will bid your behalf up to your highest bid. Lots may be won at a lower amount than your highest bid if all other bidders stop bidding.

Whilst every effort is made to execute absentee bidding, Collector Auctions cannot be held responsible for any default or neglect in connection with this service.

All such arrangements are made entirely at the prospective buyer’s risk.

10. Telephone Bids

11. Safety

Every person on Collector Auctions premises or attending an onsite auction before, during, or after a sale is regarded to be there at their own risk and has no claim against Collector Auctions for any injury sustained or accident that occurs.

We act as agents and cannot be held liable if the buyer fails to make payment. We are unable to pay you until we get cleared funds.
